COST is the only advocacy organization in Connecticut that exclusively represents the needs and interests of Connecticut's small towns and cities at the state Capitol and before state agencies. We understand the unique challenges small towns face in delivering critical services, maintaining and upgrading infrastructure, and holding the line on property taxes. COST's advocacy focuses on making sure that lawmakers understand that policies that might make sense for a large city or urban center may not make sense for a smaller rural or suburban town. With your support, COST works tirelessly to make sure that policymakers hear and respond to the concerns facing Connecticut's small towns and cities.

Connecticut municipalities with fewer than 35,000 residents are eligible to become members of COST. Recognizing the many benefits of membership, more than 85 percent of eligible municipalities have opted to join COST.
COST has saved Connecticut’s smaller communities millions of dollars by blocking proposed cuts in state aid to municipalities, eliminating costly mandates and more. About Associate Membership:
Associate Membership in the Connecticut Council of Small Towns (COST) is a great opportunity for firms and organizations that are interested in doing business with Connecticut's small towns and cities.
